Brick Row Cottage offers exquisite four-star self-catering accommodation in Babraham, a small and delightful village just 5 miles south of Cambridge.

Brick Row is an old, period listed terrace in the middle of the village. Brick Row Cottage, No. 26, is a well-appointed self-contained house, sleeping 4/6 plus baby, offering all that you need for your self-catering holiday or short break in and around Cambridge and East Anglia.

Babraham has very good transport links with Cambridge and the national rail and road networks and enjoys an excellent 16th Century pub serving food and beer. The cottage has delightful period interiors with modern equipment and furnishings and fibre broadband Internet access – all that you need for a self-catering cottage.

Accommodation

Brick Row Cottage is cosy in winter and airy and light in summer – and we trust comfortable all the time.

The ground floor of the cottage is quite open plan, the study, at front door level, leads down three steps to the large living room which is open through to the conservatory. The kitchen and garden are off the conservatory. The study is equipped with an old desk and chair, reading lamp and an early iMac. Fibre broadband internet access is provided either to the iMac or to your own device via ethernet or the cottages wireless network.

The living room has two large comfy sofas, one of them folds down to a double bed if needed. Entertainment is via a new TV with Freeview and DVD player and a Sony hi-fi with radio. For cold East Anglian winter evenings there is a wood burning stove, logs provided, but there is no fire guard.

The conservatory overlooks the patio and garden which gets the sun in the morning. Featuring an old brick floor it is where the large extending dinning table is. It is a very pleasant place to sit at any time of day. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need apart from perhaps a tumble dryer – we have one if needed, next door and there is a fine airing cupboard. The kitchen has modern units aplenty and a ceramic tiled floor.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms, each with a double bed. Both rooms are large enough to easily accommodate either a single futon or a travel cot or both. We will supply all sheets, pillows and quilts (summer or winter). There is a large wardrobe in each bedroom, a dressing table is in the main bedroom. A hairdryer is provided.

The bathroom has a fixed head shower over the bath. The airing cupboard is large and fitted with hanging rails and open shelves.

The cottage is heated by oil central heating with individual thermostats in every room for full flexible control. There is always plenty of hot water throughout the day.

The cottage is not suitable for wheelchair users we are sorry to say. There is a run of three steps from front door level down to the living room, whilst there is a downstairs loo it is at front door level.

Car parking is available to the back of the garden or on the road outside the cottage. Entry is by combination lock to the front door and by key to the rear.

How much does it cost?

Brick Row Cottage is let on a self-catering basis. We don’t have fixed changeover days, rather we try to fit to guests particular needs. Whilst the cottage is usually rented for multiples of whole weeks we do offer weekends and mid-week bookings to suit, though probably not in the summer or at Easter or Christmas/New year.

Please use the contact form or phone us to discuss your particular requirements and preferred dates. The rates include all electricity and heating, bed linen and towels. A deposit of 25% is required to confirm a Provisional Booking the balance of the charge is payable eight weeks before arrival.

Payment can be made in a variety of ways. We prefer cheques drawn on a UK bank account in pounds sterling as this is the cheapest. Bank transfers are welcome but we must ask that the guest pays all the bank charges especially if a currency conversion is required. We do accept payment by credit card, this is managed for us by using either Google Checkout or PayPal and again we must ask that the guest covers the additional charges – usually 5% on foreign transactions and 3.5% on UK based payments. All the necessary bank account details will be provided at the time of booking.

Our charges are based on a weeks rental with discounts being applied for multiple weeks. We apply two rates throughout the year – £485.00 per week in low season and up to £550.00 per week in the summer and at Xmas and Easter. The charges for weekends and short breaks are set relative to these weekly rates.

As there are cancellation fees you are also advised to take out your own holiday insurance to cover the unexpected.

We are pleased to welcome your pets given certain conditions regarding protecting the furniture and carpets, cleanliness and the animals welfare. Babraham has some excellent dog walking routes, safe from traffic and large animals, through mature woods and along the riverside. Where are we?

Brick Row Cottage is in the centre of Babraham some 5 miles from Cambridge just off the A11 London Norwich and A1307 Cambridge Linton roads.

By Rail:
From Whittlesford Station – Cambridge/London Liverpool Street Service – though close the only way to get from the station to Babraham is by road. You can arrange for a local taxi to collect you.

From Cambridge Station – services to London Liverpool Street, King’s Cross, Ely, Peterborough and Norwich – a regular bus service connects Cambridge with Babraham and passes reasonably close by the Station. Local taxi firms can be found at the station or pre-booked.

By Road:
The best way to approach Babraham by road is
From the South: M11 Junction 9, take the A11 to its junction with the A1307 Cambridge Linton Road, turn left toward Cambridge and Babraham is first on the left.

From the West and North: A14 from either the A1 or M1/M6 to near Cambridge, down the M11 to Junction 10, left onto the A505 and through onto the A11 turning off as above onto the A1307 and then first left into Babraham.

From the East: A11 southwards to its junction with the A1307, turn right toward Cambridge and take the first left into Babraham.

Brick Row is in the centre of the village on the left immediately before the George Inn. Brick Row Cottage is No.26 we live at No.25 next door.

SatNav systems work best on the post code, CB22 3AJ, which will bring you to outside the George right in the centre of the village.
